"I have worked in international education for many years teaching Geography, Environmental Systems and Societies as well as Theory of Knowledge"

"I am thrilled to be working with SMARTPREP as I feel that well-designed revision flash cards are an innovative way to help students realize their full potential. It is exciting to be able to help prepare students for their exams."

What went into your method when you created flash cards for Environmental Systems and Societies?

"The interconnected nature of the subject makes it difficult to know where to start studying. This is why we included links directing students to related cards so they can dive into the material anywhere they like. On top of that, as a visual learner myself, I like to break up the text with some color and variety, which is why I frequently used graphs, diagrams, pictures and other visual stimuli. For students aiming at the higher grades, I have included simple, short case studies that should reinforce key points."

How do you picture students using these flash cards?

"I am sure they will use them very differently. Some students will start with their favorite topic to build up their confidence, while others may prefer to tackle their least favorite topic first, just to get it done! Either way, they will find they have to dip into the other topics to make the connections."

Do you have any tips for using flash cards as a teaching aid?

"These cards are valuable in all sorts of ways. They make a great lesson starter and short sharp plenaries. Students can work in teams and compete with each other for the highest score and prizes (no homework tonight for the winning team). The cards can also be used as templates for the students to develop their own sets of questions for each other."
